Formulating strategic planning for the Pharmacy and Poison’s Board (PPB)
The Pharmacy and Poison’s Board was established as the Drug Regulatory Authority in Kenya under the Pharmacy and Poisons Act CAP 244 of the laws of Kenya. The board began its operations on 1st May 1957 and over the years it has undergone various institutional and structural changes. The board largely operated as a department of the Ministry of Health, until 1993 when it was established as a body corporate, giving it absolute autonomy. Despite this development, the board still retains a symbiotic relationship with the Ministry of Health, both operationally and strategically. The board had come under severe media scrutiny and had been accused of laxity and negligence in the discharge of its duties. Our firm was therefore sub-contracted by Apex Business and Marketing Consultant to assist in defining the objectives, strategies and instruments for communication with stakeholders of the board (Strategic Plan for the PPB).
