Valuation of Meru Mulika Lodge on behalf of Kenya Tourism Development Corporation (KTDC) under the Ministry of Finance
This was part of the Kenya Government divesture of its state corporations as part of the policy recommended by the World Bank and IMF on reforms of the public sector. CDC in association with Kabeberi & Co. who were experts in Hotels undertook this assignment.
The lodge which was owned 100% by KTDC, at the time of valuation was not in operation. The purpose of the valuation was to sell the whole hotel and its assets to an interested operator. The work undertake included:
- Reconstruction of the finances of the company based on the previous operations which in most cases was based on incomplete records.
- Kabeberi & Co. the experts in hotel estimated the room and other operations of the lodge based on various scenario.
- Based on the figures developed we the hotel was valued based on the most optimal option to give the government the basis of negotiating an appropriate price with the investor..
