Review of costs in the power sector – Electricity Regulatory Board (ERB)
The assignment involved review of projected capital costs and operating costs in the power sector in Kenya and establishing the prudence of projected operating and maintenance costs, establishing the reasonableness of projected capital expenditure, quantifying potential savings in power production costs and recommending appropriate levels of power purchase costs, operating and maintenance costs and capital expenditure to be included in formulating the Kenya Power & Lighting Company’s revenue requirements for purposes of setting electricity retail tariffs, and; proposing practical ways for monitoring by Electricity Regulatory Board of the approved levels of the costs during the period following tariff review.
